Use this fun activity to help your family explore how Jesus changes our perspective on life.
Scripture: Luke
19:1-10
Equipment: A
Bible...and a Tree!
Before You Begin
Look for a sunny, spring day - and then enjoy this FunFaith experience outdoors.
The FunFaith Moment
Take your family outside and climb trees together! If you don't have a tree large enough to climb in your neighborhood, go to a local park to find one, or you can always climb the jungle gym or play equipment at a local playground. See how high you can all get, then take a moment to view the world from your "skyscraper" perspective. Talk about what you see. Are there enough leaves to hide you from people below? Is there something you can see up here that you might have missed on the ground? What else is going through your mind up there high in the sky?
Discovery
From your perch above ground, read Luke 19:1-10 and discuss these questions:
• What's it like being too short to see above others? When is this really annoying?
• Zacchaeus did a lot of wrong things. Everyone knew he took money that didn't belong to him. Why do you think he was so interested in seeing Jesus?
• Why were people complaining that Jesus was staying at Zacchaeus' house?
• What did spending time with Jesus change Zacchaeus' perspective?
• When are we like Zacchaeus? How can we spend time with Jesus to help change our perspective?
• How can we show Jesus' love to people like Zacchaeus?
Prayer
Have each family member pray for one person they know who needs to change of perspective from Jesus. Ask God to give you opportunities to show love to these people and introduce them to God.
