About FamilyFans.com

The E-Magazine for Fun-Loving Parents

---

WHAT IS FAMILYFANS.COM?

FamilyFans.com is a quarterly e-magazine for fun-loving parents! Our goal with each issue is to help parents to enjoy and better relate to their kids. We firmly believe that "Happy memories make happy families," and so FamilyFans.com works to provide ideas, advice, insight, wisdom, and a healthy dose of fun for parents to share with their children in normal, everyday life.

FamilyFans.com is a non-commercial publication of Nappaland Communications Inc. As such, this e-magazine operates under an ongoing grant from Nappaland. That allows us to deliver this e-magazine, and ancillary content and materials, free of charge to our readers.

ABOUT OUR HISTORY AND READERSHIP

FamilyFans.com has its roots in late 1999, when Nappaland Communications Inc. founder and president Mike Nappa first jumped onto the Internet bandwagon to begin planning the creation and publication of Nappaland.com "The Free E-Magazine for Families." Nearly 10 years later, in 2009, Nappaland.com grew and expanded, and changed its name to the current one: FamilyFans.com - The E-Magazine for Fun-Loving Parents.

After months of creative work and planning, the original Nappaland.com launched its first issue in spring of 2000. (For those of you who remember it, we had an, um, interesting orange theme running through the pages in those days! Don't ask us why. We were young, and we liked orange at the time. Hey, we all make mistakes.) Nappaland.com debuted strongly and has since attracted millions of unique readers who come from--literally--all over the world..

"We wanted to do something for readers," Mike Nappa says now, "something that would encourage them and that wouldn't cost them anything. We felt like God had freely given us unique talents and resources, and we wanted freely give of those resources in response to God's generosity.

"We are professional authors, and so we have to earn our living from our writing. But we realized one day that while we had to write to earn money, not everything we wrote had to earn money. So we started brainstorming what we could give away in terms of our time and talent, and Nappaland.com was the result."

For the next decade, Nappaland.com focused on providing parents with practical ideas and pop culture insight and information. Uniquely, Nappaland authors wrote from the perspective of both a fan of pop culture and a parent of faith. Over the years, other talented, likeminded authors and editors joined the staff of Nappaland.com, donating their creative work as well. And unexpectedly--with no advertising budget, no marketing budget, and no paid staff members--this little e-magazine exploded into a full-fledged, internationally seen web site. Kinda cool, huh?

By 2009, Nappaland.com noticed a global economic crisis had caused many of our cousins in commercial publication had to cut back on content--and on occasion, they'd even had to cease publication completely. Since this e-magazine is a non-commercial publication, it was less affected by economic downturns, and so the Nappaland.com editorial team decided it was  time to step up and do more while everyone else was doing less.

But...as Nappaland.com publisher, Mike Nappa, and associate publisher, Amy Nappa, discussed it more, they decided that it was time to do more than just expand coverage and focus. It was time to reinvent the e-magazine, keeping the best of Nappaland.com and transforming it into something even better.
