We Lavish Our Love

Keith Hulen and the Christ for the Nations Institute Praise Band / CFNmusic

Christ for the Nations Institute is back, this time with their 37th worship music release, We Lavish Our Love. Though the lyrics here occasionally come across as trendy or trite (such as “You’ve rocked my world/Totally Lord…” from the song “Totally”), there is still an enthusiasm and simpleness (in a good way) about this CD that many will find attractive.

“I Love the Lord” is a good example of this, featuring a basic, heartfelt chorus that’s performed with an endearing 70s-Jesus-Music style akin to classic Randy Stonehill. Shannon Wexelberg’s moving vocals on the worship ballad “Jesus, What a Savior” are also stirring.

Following the typical praise formula of upbeat songs for the early portion, then transitioning to quiet praise for the latter half, We Lavish Our Love seems to hit all the right notes. Feel free to enjoy it as such.
