To introduce Keith Green to a new generation, Sparrow Records has released an outstanding new collection of this artist’s piano-based work entitled, The Songs of Keith Green Series. Taking a unique approach, the four CDs here group Green’s music by theme: 1) Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful: Songs of Worship; 2) Make My Life a Prayer to You: Songs of Devotion; 3) Because of You: Songs of Testimony; and 4) Here I Am: Songs of Evangelism.

The obvious highlight of this series is Because of You, which boasts classics like the piano-pounding “You Put This Love in My Heart,” the Scripture-based “Unless the Lord Builds a House” and the humorous “He’ll Take Care of the Rest.” Close on its heels is the intimate Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful collection of power-packed worship tunes like “There is a Redeemer” and “Rushing Wind.” And, of course, with songs like “My Eyes are Dry” and “The Sheep and the Goats” on the other two CDs, they are can’t-miss albums as well.

Expertly meshing together live moments with studio recordings of Green, all four CDs in The Songs of Keith Green Series do more than simply replay the past. They offer a new glimpse at the passion and power of a Christian musician totally dedicated to God.

If there’s a weakness in this collection, it’s that the heart of Green’s music—the lyrics—isn’t printed in the CD booklets. However, you can still heartily recommend this series to young and old alike, and confidently make these songs regulars on your stereo system. You—and your family—will be glad you did.
