It’s
been five years since we last heard from Jon Gibson. Now he’s back, with a new
label and bevy of funky new R&B/pop melodies for your family members to
enjoy.
Highlights
are easy to find here, beginning with the title track. Sporting a
steady-grooving beat and fronted by Gibson’s Stevie-Wonder-esque vocals, this
song glides its way through a reminder that God see beneath the surface of every
man, woman, and child. The reggae-influenced melody, “Who Are You Fooling,”
is also a treat, as is the inspirational, “Fly With the Wind.”
Lyrically,
Gibson has recorded a mixed bag. Some tunes, like the remake of “God Will Find
Ya,” promote an overtly Christian message. Others, such as “Your Love is
Like That,” are simply love songs sung by a Christian. However, according to
the liner notes, all songs on this album have a Scriptural basis.
Overall,
this album is definitely an enjoyable listening experience. Don’t hesitate to
recommend that your R&B-loving family members get to know The Man Inside of Jon Gibson.
