Jennifer
Dawn / 7k’ Records/Servant Music Distribution Every so
often an album comes along that’s gripping not just because of its music, but
also because of the passion and transparency of its lyrical content. Jennifer
Dawn’s third album, Silver, is one such album. Sure the
music is good. Dawn presents a radio-friendly, jazzy-pop sound with a classical
piano influence that’s similar to Cindy Morgan (with an edge) or Nichole
Nordeman. But it’s the addition of her personal lyrical style that separates
this CD from an overpopulated pack of pop offerings. Highlights
here are easy to find. “I Need You Lord” is a soft-rock prayer with a
marching beat that reminds how much we really need Jesus. “He is God,” is
also entertaining, delivering in-your-face Christianity wrapped in a musical
menagerie that includes acoustic piano, violin, electric guitar and a vocal
blues style. And the love ballad to God, “I Believe in You” is hauntingly
impressive. In
short, Silver is a solid effort from an artist who appears poised for a
breakthrough in the Christian music scene. Recommend it with confidence. —Mike
