This new project from Hillsong United is one that differs from their older albums, but still has a passion for worship and God.

This album features many wonderful new songs that are both meant for worship, and also to challenge the listener to go further in his or her relationship with God. A song that combines both of these aspects is the second song, “Break Free.” This song asks “Would you break free get up and dance?” and then later says “God forever we’ll get up and dance and praise you.” This song also adds more of a rock and roll aspect that was never really used before by this band. The opening song “Point of Difference” is also a very cool song. It starts off as if it will be a slower song, but then it starts to build and turns into a song that is reminiscent of their song “Only One” from the Look To You album. This song basically is just asking God to send down his spirit as they worship. As I continue to listen to this album, there is a change that is more and more evident in this one from others. Since it is a studio album, rather than being recorded live, there are some better musical tones and there is more freedom to add some sounds that wouldn’t have been there live. Overall I would say that this CD has changed this band from a live worship band to a more worshipful alternative band, similar to Delirious?, and that is never a bad thing.

Even though there are probably more positive things to recording in a studio than there are to recording live, I miss the live recordings. They always seemed more real to me. There was more of a sense of hunger and passion as the band was able to feed off of the enthusiasm from the crowd, and hearing the chorus of thousands singing along and praising Jesus was always a really cool thing. Other than that, I have no complaints about this album. It is exactly what I look for in a contemporary worship album.

I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys worship music, and especially to those involved in a worship band to hear how a great band functions.
