Basix / Spring Hill Music Group

Ever wonder what would happen if you put 4Him, Point of Grace, and Avalon in a blender and mixed them all up into one group? I’m betting the results would be the sound of Believe, the first major-label CD from the quintet, Basix. (They released four previous independent albums.)

Fans of radio-friendly groups like those mentioned above are going to love Believe. These three men and two women have been performing together for over seven years—and it shows. Theirs is a polished adult contemporary sound reminiscent of several of Christian music’s finest acts. Memorable tunes on this album are the trumpeting melody, “He Lifts Me Up,” the worshipful ballad, “We Belong to You,” and the touching hymn medley, “Come Thou Fount/I Surrender All.”

 Although Basix may get lost in the sea of CCM pop groups, in Believe they’ve created 40-plus minutes of enjoyable music that ought to be heard. I wish them the best of success (and if they hit it big, you can tell everyone you read it here first!).
