listen to the latest offering from Allen & Allen and it’s obvious why
these guys have become synonymous with the term “inspirational jazz.” In Love
Sweet Love they have, once again, delivered musical excellence in a category
that’s often ignored in the Christian music industry. With a unique mix of
jazz, gospel, R&B, and praise and worship, this is an album no one should
miss.
No,
Christian radio won’t play this stuff, but who cares? The silky sounds of
“’Groover’ Washington,” the delightfully peaceful remake of Oleta
Adams’ “Holy is the Lamb,” and the chill-inducing, Vince Guaraldi/Kenny
G-style rendition of “Jesus Loves Me” are all addictive anyway. Add in the
vocal expertise of Take 6 members, Mark and Joey Kibble, for “Love Sweet
Love” and you’ve got a CD that’s arguably one of this year’s best so far
in any musical category.
Forget
about your family on this one; you’ll want to keep Love Sweet Love
playing on your stereo system just for yourself. Highly recommended (in case you
couldn’t guess!).
