With his
music now firmly entrenched in the adult contemporary genre of Christian music,
it’s hard to believe that Al Denson was once a hot ticket among youth groups
around the nation. Still, in his latest effort, From This Day On, Denson
shows a bit of that youthful spark within his inspirational pop songs.
“Say
The Name” is one such example. In this perky little anthem, Denson uses
revival-meeting music and gospel-esque background vocals to proclaim the power
of Jesus’ name. Ballad lovers will also enjoy the sweetly presented worship
song, “Because of Him.” And the tribute to a mother, “Until the Light Goes
Out” is also meaningful, exploring the pain of watching a loved one enter old
age.
In all,
this CD is a satisfying collection of inspirational songs. Although Denson
remains active in youth ministry, expect family members in the over-30 crowd to
be especially glad to hear his new album From This Day On.
