Abandon / Forefront Records
Fan Appeal: Teens and up Genre: Rock This new EP brings a new refreshing sound to the Christian music genre. From the first song, Abandon brings a hard hitting style similar to that of the Killers. But instead of singing about girls and whatnot, there are Christ-centered lyrics. The opening song “Providence” is a song that explores Peter’s denial of Christ. Probably the best song on the EP is “All Because Of You.” This song has a more U2 or Coldplay sound to it, and is very soothing. This song talks about how everything we have and do is because of what God has done for us. How he takes the old and makes it new, and as we join in a chorus of believers we will all learn to worship with them to the King of Kings. Much like Philmont, it is unfortunate that this is only an EP because I’d love to hear more. The worst thing I noticed was that their style changes from song to song just a little too much each time for it to sound as continuous as it should. This may be just bad song order or it may be that the band just needs some more time to be able to nail down their own definite sound. I’d recommend this to anyone, and definitely keep an eye on this band. FAMILYFANS RATING: B+ --TN ### |
